MRS. JAKEY HOFFMAN MARRIED

And There Are Lively Times in Store
for John Martin, of California

Mrs.Isabella Bidwell-Hoffman, somewhat familiarly known to Elmirans as Mrs. “Jakey” Hoffman, has sent acquaintances here cards announcing her marriage to John Martin, of San Francisco, California.

Mr. Martin is said to be worth $6,000,000, and is old enough to look out for himself, a thing that he may some day wish he had done. Mrs. Hoffman-Martin is a woman of many pretentions, pretty good looks and form of unusual beauty. She has a good deal of taste in certain directions, and also has a highly developed faculty of getting into rows, and dragging those about her in, too.

The last time she was in Elmira — in fact, the occasion on which she started for her aged hubby — she was interviewed at the depot by a policeman and a dressmaker to whom she was indebted, and the trip had to be postponed until the bill was settled.

She stopped in one of the western states and got in some trouble there, so it is only fair to presume that Mrs. John Martin will see some exciting times before his lamp of life is snuffed out and his alleged millions fall into the hands of the eccentric Mrs. Martin.

Mrs. Martin is handsome, but life even with her has its drawbacks if her husband isn’t pretty well used to trouble and of a very forbearing nature.
